Eight real estate players announced on Monday, March 14 that they are working on a European label (1). It will be awarded to the most virtuous assets with the lowest carbon footprint over their entire life cycle.
The new label, to be completed by this summer, will be based on the one developed in 2016 by the French association BBCA. More than 300 projects in France have obtained or applied for the label since its creation. “The implementation of best practices in terms of low-carbon construction and operation can reduce the carbon footprint of a building by 30 to 50% compared to traditional construction methods,” the association said in a statement.
BBCA will bring its expertise to this initiative of Place. The challenge is to harmonize the practices of carbon footprint analysis at the European level, each country still following its own rules.
